ANNE MASTALIR

FOUNDER + LEAD DESIGNER

Anne’s unwavering passion for design has been unfolding for the past 19 years, resulting in a diverse skill set and her signature ‘organic-modern’ aesthetic. Her roots in house-flipping allowed for exploration of her own creative depths, all the while being met with the challenge of producing a beautiful product on a tight budget.

In 2013, after stints of living in some of the most design-forward cities in the country–LA, San Francisco, NYC and Portland–Anne moved to Bend, OR. Her wanderlust soul finds inspiration in global architecture and art. From the mosques of Istanbul to the riads of Marrakech to the patina of crumbling frescos, Anne sees the beauty in old-world character and pairs it with modern sensibilities.

Equipped with a BS in Business from Pepperdine and years of design experience, Anne founded Design Bar in 2020 and continues to lead a disruptive design firm with a soul. She is also the dedicated single mom of two beautiful teenagers and two crazy pets.

Annie grew up in the artistic community of Sedona, Arizona, where visits to the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village sparked her early love for design. She pursued that passion, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design and Event Management from Northern Arizona University. For the past few years, Annie has worked both in Bend and remotely from Arizona, bringing her creative vision and expertise to every project.

Her design aesthetic is rooted in nature, combining rich textures, inviting colors, and a modern sensibility. KATE JONES

DESIGNER

Kate has called the High Desert home since the age of nine, when she moved to Powell Butte. Her deep roots in Central Oregon continue to shape her work, with the region’s natural beauty serving as a constant source of creative inspiration.

Trained by Anne Mastalir, owner and lead designer of Design Bar, Kate has developed into a talented designer, mastering essential tools like SketchUp and refining her innate design instincts. Her project management skills, eye for detail, self-driven learning, and passion for design allow her to excel in this dynamic field of work. Her favorite part about working for Design Bar is the magic (and fun!) of creative collaboration.

Kate loves living in beautiful Bend with her loving husband, daughter and pets. She spends her spare time re-arranging her own furniture, hiking, playing cribbage and going to bed at a sensible hour.

Krista Cook, Interior Design Assistant, sitting on a cream-colored sofa in a home decor store. Bookshelves full of fabric samples and home accessories are in the background.

KRISTA COOK

INTERIOR DESIGN ASSISTANT

Krista brings a thoughtful, artful approach to every project she touches at Design Bar. Raised in Oregon’s lush Willamette Valley, her early love of painting, drawing, and crafting sparked a deep curiosity for color theory, texture, and mood-driven aesthetics. Today, her design sensibility is grounded in natural materials and moody, refined palettes, always seeking a balance between beauty and intention.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from Oregon State University and spent three years interning at an architecture firm, where she gained hands-on experience in project development, client collaboration, and technical design. That time sharpened her understanding of spatial flow and how architecture and interiors work together to create cohesive, functional spaces.

Krista relocated to Bend in the summer of 2025 with her boyfriend and their dog, drawn by the city’s vibrant design scene and love of the outdoors. Outside the studio, you’ll find her adventuring with Finnley, bouldering, or snowboarding the Central Oregon slopes.
